Dinah Jane Talks New Single "Bottled Up" and Going Solo

September 20, 2018

Dinah Jane stopped by the MusicTown Detroit studios this week for a chat with 98.7 AMP Radio's Cruise and Julia ahead of the release of her debut single, "Bottled Up."

The 21-year-old singer, who rose to fame as one of the members of Fifth Harmony, is breaking into her solo career with the song, which touts an R&B vibe and features Ty Dolla $ign and Marc E. Bassy.

When discussing the process of finding her individual sound and style as an artist, Dinah rewinds back to her teen years, when she was inspired by female artists of the late '90s and early 2000s, including Mariah Carey, Destiny's Child and Beyonce.

"I've always been moved by [that] era ... it was always instilled in me. That part of me never left," she explained. "But in a way, I had to put it away in a drawer for a couple of years and then revisit it when it was time."

And it seems that time is now, as "Bottled Up" drops tomorrow (September 21).
