Michael Ray has had a busy year, and he's ready for a quick break to relax and reflect before he moves full-steam ahead into 2020.

The country singer is currently on tour with Jimmie Allen and Walker County, and he stopped by the MusicTown Detroit studios on Wednesday, December 4 for an interview with 99.5 WYCD's Cadillac Jack before headlining the station's holiday show at the Fillmore Detroit that night.

"It's probably been the busiest year, touring-wise, over the last few years. We went over to Europe for the first time, went back and had sold out shows over there," Ray told Cadillac Jack. "Being out with Brantley (Gilbert) and going out with Old Dominion, then headlining our own shows and now on the CMT Tour."

"It's been a lot on professional and then obviously personal...Carly (Pearce) and I getting married and I lost my grandmother in the first part of this year, so it's just been a crazy year," he added. "(I'm) excited for (the year) to come to an end and then look back on it and plan 2020."

Over the holiday break, Michael Ray and his wife, fellow country singer Carly Pearce will celebrate their honeymoon with a vacation in Jamaica, and then spend some time hanging out with their families.

When asked what it's been like to have a relationship with another artist, Ray says it's great to have someone by his side that understands the ups and downs of the industry.

"You have this crazy life and career on your own, and then you add the same thing to it and make it double," he said. "A lot of flying and a lot of keeping up with the calendars...but it's fun. It's cool to have that person in your corner that gets it."
